Description

The Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment Tool (AUSDRISK) is used to screen an Australian adult for risk of Type 2 diabetes mellitus.


Patient selection: Australian adult

 

Outcome: risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus within 5 years

 

Parameters

(1) age in years

(2) gender

(3) ethnicity

(4) place of birth

(5) diabetes in family members

(6) history of high blood sugar

(7) therapy for high blood pressure

(8) tobacco use daily

(9) vegetable consumption

(10) exercise in hours per week (at least 2.5 hours)

(11) waist measurement in centimeters (at level of umbilicus) based on gender and race (high risk race Asian, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander)
