Description

Araoye and Olowoyeye developed a score for diagnosing hypertensive heart failure in a patient based on clinical findings. The authors are from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria.

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) cardiac arrhythmia

(3) organic heart murmur

(4) aortic valve closure sound (A2)

(5) ethanol abuse

(6) chronic pulmonary disease

(7) retinal changes of arteriolosclerosis

(8) size of the aorta in the chest X-ray

(9) involutional arteriosclerosis (palpable thickening of the arterial wall in peripheral arteries)
