Scoring System of van der Linden and the Dutch Bone Metastasis Study Group for Predicting Survival in Patients with Metastases to the Spinal Column
Purpose: To evaluate a patient with metastatic cancer to the spine using the prognostic score of van der Linden et al from the Dutch Bone Marrow Metastasis Study Group.
van der Linden and other members of the Dutch Bone Metastasis Study Group developed a score for predicting survival in patients with metastases to the spinal column. The authors are from multiple university medical centers in The Netherlands.
Parameters:
(1) Karnofsky performance scale (KPS)
(2) site of primary tumor
(3) visceral metastasis

• maximum score: 6
• The higher the score the better the prognosis.
