Description

Mizumoto et al developed a prognostic score for patients with metastatic cancer to the vertebral column treated with radiation therapy. This can help to identify patients who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Shizuoka Cancer Hospital in Japan.

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) number of bone metastases

(3) hypercalcemia

(4) history of previous chemotherapy

(5) type of primary tumor

(6) ECOG performance scale

(7) visceral metastases

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 14

• The higher the score the worse the survival.
