Prognostic Score of Chevallier et al for Histological Node Negative Breast Carcinoma

Purpose: To estimate the disease free and overall survival in women with invasive breast carcinoma with histologically negative lymph nodes.

Description

Chevallier et al developed prognostic scores for women with breast cancer and histologically negative lymph nodes. These were developed using univariate and multivariate analysis in 379 patients seen at the H. Becquerel Cancer Centre in Rouen, France from 1977 to 1983.


Patient population

• invasive breast carcinoma; cases with in situ carcinoma only were excluded

• tumors were unilateral and either unifocal or multifocal

= (0.91 * (points for age)) + (0.27 * (points for tumor size)) + (0.85 * (points for histologic grade))

 

Interpretation:

• range of scores for overall survival: -2.14 to +1.14

• range of scores for disease free survival: -1.12 to +2.04
