Has the patient developed the acute onset of?

• a coagulopathy caused by an inability of the liver to produce sufficient coagulation factors?

• evidence of other failures in hepatic function?

Yes

Could the changes be due to a progression of a chronic liver disease?

Yes

Data complete?

Evaluation appropriate?

Is there evidence of acute hepatic dysfunction?

Number of findings suggesting a diagnosis other than acute liver failure

Is the patient experiencing acute liver failure?
