Description

The Veterans Administration and Department of Defense (VA/DoD) have listed criteria for the staging of chronic kidney disease. These are based on criteria from the National Kidney Foundation.


Criteria for chronic kidney disease - both of the following:

(1) duration of a sustained abnormality > 3 months

(2) one or more of the following:

(2a) structural renal abnormality by imaging

(2b) abnormal renal histology

(2c) GFR < 60 mL per kg per 1.73 square meters BSA, with or without kidney damage

(2d) albuminuria

(2e) urine sediment abnormality

(2f) history of renal transplantation
