Age of the patient

Duration of tourniquet application

Has there been a perioperative injection of intra-articular corticosteroids?

Was the arthroscopic procedure complex?

Is there a history of previous procedures on the joint?

Have contaminated instruments or 'sterile' supplies been used?

Have there been other breaks in infection control measures?

Does the patient have an active infection elsewhere?

Has any foreign body or ACL graft been placed?

Was the procedure converted to an arthrotomy?

Was the surgical site reprepared before the arthrotomy was started?
