Rheumatoid Arthritis | Criteria for Remission in Clinical Trial

Purpose: To identify a patient with rheumatoid arthritis who has achieved a remission following therapy based on the ACR/EULAR criteria.

Description

The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and European League Against Rheumatims (EULAR) reported criteria for remission in Rheumatoid Arthritis to be used in clinical trials.


 

2 definitions were proposed:

(1) Boolean-based, based on 4 critiera

(2) index-based, using the Simplified Disease Activity Index (SDAI)

 

Boolean definition - All of the following:

(1) tender joint count 0 or 1 (out of 28)

(2) swollen joint count 0 or 1 (out of 28)

(3) C-reactive protein (CRP) <= 1 mg/dL

(4) patient global assessment 0 or 1 (using a Likert scale from 0 to 10)

 

Index-based definition

(1) Simplified Disease Activity Index (SDAI) <= 3.3 (out of 100)
