Description

Yanaranop et al reported the Rajavithi-Ovarian Cancer Predictive Score (R-OPS) for evaluation of a woman with a pelvic mass. The score can help to identify a woman who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from Rajavithi Hospital in Bangkok and Khon Kaen University in Thailand.

Patient selection: adult woman with a pelvic mass

Parameters:

(1) menopausal status

(2) serum CA 125 in U/mL (Roche Cobas Elecsys)

(3) serum HE4 in pM/L (Roche Cobas Elecsys)

(4) ultrasound findings of a solid area in the ovary (versus completely cystic)

= (points for menopausal status) * (points for ultrasound) * (points for CA 125) * (points for HE4)

Interpretation:

• A R-OPS score > 330 is associated with ovarian cancer.

Performance:

• The sensitivity was 0.94 and specificity 0.80.

• The area under the ROC curve was 0.93.
