Description

Freedland et al determined the risk of prostate cancer-specific survival after biochemical recurrence in men who have undergone radical prostatectomy. This can help identify patients who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute and University of Southern California Los Angeles.

Criteria for biochemical recurrence: serum PSA >= 0.2 ng/mL

Parameters:

(1) number of years between radical prostatectomy and biochemical recurrence

(2) Gleason score of original prostate cancer

(3) PSA doubling time (PSADT)
