Description

Guillevin et al developed a Five Factor Score (FFS) that can be used to predict prognosis in patients with polyarteritis nodosa, Churg-Strauss Syndrome and other systemic vasculitides. This can help identify those patients who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from the French Vasculitis Study Group.

Factors:

(1) proteinuria

(2) gastrointestinal disease

(3) renal insufficiency

(4) CNS involvement

(5) cardiomyopathy

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 5

• The higher the score, the worse the prognosis.
