Description

Parker and Palmer developed a model for predicting mortality at 1 year following a hip fracture. This included an assessment of patient mobility prior to the fracture. The authors are from the Peterborough District Hospital and University of Cambridge in England.

where:

• There is a gap for a person with mild impairment (limp, etc.) but who does not need a walking aid. To handle this the spreadsheet will add an extra field scored at 2.5.

= SUM(points for all 3 parameters)

 

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 9

• The lower the score the worse the mobility.
