Description

The play performance scale is a parent or guardian rated instrument which records usual play activity in a child with cancer. It is intended to provide a standardized measure for the child's level of performance. It is analogous to the Karnofsky scale in adults.

Patient selection:

(1) A child with cancer aged from 1 to 16 years.

(2) The child may be inpatient or outpatient.

(3) The patient may be in active treatment or during long term followup.

The evaluation is completed by a parent or guardian based on the average performance during the past week.
