(1) arm (typically following breast cancer)
(2) lower extremity (multiple causes)
(3) scrotum in males (with filariasis)
Parameters to consider:
(1) physical discomfort and pain
(2) other symptoms
(3) emotional issues (poor self-image, anxiety, depression, other)
(4) embarrassment in public
(5) effect on relationships with family and friends
(6) interference with work
(7) interference with exercise, sports or physical activities
(8) interference with social activities
(9) interference with activities of daily living (ADL) and hygiene
(10) interference with transportation and getting around
(11) cost
(12) problems in getting social support
Each factor can be graded.
