Risk Factors for Clostridium Difficile Diarrhea

Age of the patient

• have a severe underlying disease?

• have a history of recent admission to the ICU?

• had a long hospitalization?

• immunocompromised or immunosuppressed?

• had 1 or more non-surgical gastrointestinal procedures?

• recently had a nasogastric tube?

• received anti-peptic ulcer therapy?

• had a recent history of long-term antibiotic therapy?

• recent therapy with multiple antibiotics?

• recent therapy with a broad-spectrum antibiotic (cephalosporins, clindamycin, fluoroquinolones, other)?
