Kim et al reported a nomogram for predicting lymph node metastases from a prostate adenocarcinoma. This can help to identify a patient who should have a pelvic lymph node dissection during radical prostatectomy. The authors are from Yonsei University and Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital in Seoul.
Patient selection: male with prostate cancer
Parameters:
(1) serum PSA in ng/mL
(2) T stage (T1, T2, T3)
(3) Gleason score
points for PSA =
= MIN(100,(serum PSA)*2)

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 220.3

probability of lymph node metastases =
= 1 / (1 + EXP((-1) * X))
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve was 0.88.
