An internal duodenal diverticulum is an intraluminal congenital anomaly that arises from incomplete duodenal lumen formation during embryogenesis. As it elongates its appearance is reminiscent of a windsock seen at airports.
Location: duodenum
It tends to extend distally.
Complications:
(1) small bowel obstruction with early satiety, postprandial vomiting, and abdominal pain
(2) gastrointestinal bleeding
(3) pancreatitis
