A wig can catch on fire and cause significant burns.
Risk factors:
(1) wig made of flammable synthetic material
(2) flammable material in hair spray
(3) being near a flame (smoking, candle, etc)
If the wig cannot be removed or the fire extinguished, then
(1) the wearer may develop significant burns over the scalp, face and neck.
(2) clothing may catch on fire, causing a generalized burn.
