Description

A pneumatic tube system used for delivering specimens should be inspected to ensure that it has no or minimal effects on accuracy of the subsequent analyses.


 

Routine times for inspections:

(1) initial acceptance after installation

(2) after a major modification to the system

(3) periodically throughout the year

 

Additional inspections may be done if operational problems occur:

(1) unexplained hemolysis of blood specimens

(2) lost or delayed specimens

(3) sudden increase in damaged tubes

(4) troubleshooting unexpected laboratory results
