Description

Wu et al reported the WCRDA score for predicting renal dysfunction following open surgical repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The authors are from West China Medical School of Sichuan University in Chengdu.

WCDRA = West China Renal Dysfunction after AAA open surgical repair

Patient selection: open surgical repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm

Parameters:

(1) ruptured vs unruptured aneurysm

(2) blood loss in liters

(3 hemodynamic instability

(4) current smoking

(5) serum creatinine prior to surgery in µmol/L

(6) therapy with antihypertensive drugs (BD meds)

Interpretation:

minimum score: 0

maximum score: 4

The higher the score the greater the risk of renal dysfunction.
