Description

Klok et al reported the VTE-BLEED score for prediction of the risk of bleeding in a patient receiving oral anticoagulants for venous thromboembolism.  The authors are from Gutenberg University, McMaster University, and the University of Thrace.

Patient selection: anticoagulation therapy for venous thromboembolism

Outcome: bleeding during stable anticoagulation therapy

Parameters:

(1) active cancer

(2) sex and uncontrolled arterial hypertension (systolic blood pressure >= 140 mm Hg

(3) anemia

(4) history of bleeding

(5) age in years

(6) renal dysfunction (creatinine clearance 30-50 mL/min)
