Description

A uterine fibroid may range from a sphere to an ellipsoid in shape. Its volume can be estimated by approximating an ellipsoid

volume of a fibroid in cubic cm =

= 0.5233 * (length in cm) * (width in cm) * (depth in cm)

where:

• The equation for the volume of a sphere is 4 * PI() / 3 * ((radius)^3).

• The factor 0.5233 approximated 4 * PI() / 3 / 8, with the 8 coming from converting diameter to a radius and cubing the result.

The volume of inner ischemic necrosis or other degenerative change can be estimated using the same formula.
