The volume of a partially filled round bottom flask can be estimated from simple measurements.
volume in mL =
= π * (((radius of flask in cm) * ((height of liquid in cm)^2)) – (((height of liquid in cm)^3) / 3))
where:
• This would apply to the spherical portion of the flask. For fluid extending into the neck, the volume would be for the spherical portion plus the cylindrical neck.
• Measurements should take into account the thickness of the glass.
