Prolonged exposure to video games can affect vision in children. Reduction in the use of video games can lead to improved vision.
Patient selection: children 3-10 years of age with high use of video games
Clinical features may include:
(1) eye strain (asthenopia)
(2) reduced stereopsis
(3) heterophoria
(4) ametropia
(5) astigmatism in the dominant eye
Symptoms of asthenopia:
(1) headache
(2) burning
(3) eyelid tic
(4) vision blurring
(5) transient diplopia
(6) dizziness
(7) eyeache
