Someone who has experienced a series of easy victories may develop what is known as "victory disease."
Risk factors for victory disease:
(1) a series of easy victories
(2) grandiose beliefs about self
(3) contempt for opponents
(4) false confidence, due to a failure to appreciate improvements made by opponents or other changes that impact outcomes
A person suffering from victory disease may suffer defeat if the person becomes sloppy or lazy.
