The chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane can be used for tissue culture. This can serve as an experimental model for endometriosis using an endometrial implant. The viability of the implant can be determined using a histological score. The score can be modified for other types of implants as well.
Histologic parameters:
(1) glandular tissue
(2) fibroblasts
(3) necrobiosis
(4) leukocytes

• maximum score: 11
• A high score is associated with implant viability.
