Description

Verruciform xanthomas may occur in the genital region of men and women. These resemble verruciform xanthomas of the oral cavity.


Pathogenesis: most patients do not have hyperlipidemia or other systemic disease that can explain the lesions

 

Locations:

(1) scrotum

(2) penis

(3) vulva

 

Clinical appearance: wart-like skin lesion

 

Histologic appearance:

(1) foamy macrophages within elongated dermal papillae

(2) epithelial acanthosis

(3) variable hyperkeratosis

 

Differential diagnosis:

(1) HPV-related verruca (mixed lesions possible)

(2) skin tag (acrochordon)
