Description

Young girls may have reflux of urine into the vagina while voiding, which then leaks out afterwards.

Clinical features:

(1) There is a small to moderate amount of urine leaked.

(2) It tends to occur within a few minutes after a normal void.

(3) It tends to occur in prepubertal girls who are very thin or who are obese with have an abnormal position while voiding.

(4) No other explanation is found.

A change in positioning when urinating may be enough to correct the problem. An obese girl may respond to sitting in the reverse position while voiding. A slender girl may benefit from a pediatric toilet insert.
