Description

Shapiro et al reported the Vaccine Conspiracy Beliefs Scale (VCBS) for evaluating a parent's attitude towards vaccines. A parent's attitude towards vaccines may influence how and when a child is immunized. The authors are from McGill University and Jewish General Hospital in Montreal.


Items:

(2) Immunizing children is harmful and this fact is covered up.

(3) Pharmaceutical companies cover up the dangers of vaccine.

(4) People are deceived about vaccine efficacy.

(5) Vaccine efficacy data is often fabricated.

(6) People are deceived about vaccine safety.

(7) The government is trying to cover up the link between vaccines and autism.

 

Scoring from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree).

 

The average score can be calculated from the responses to the 7 items:

Interpretation:

minimum sum of all items: 7

maximum sum of all items: 49

minimum average: 1

maximum average: 7
