Description

Kaseb et al modified the Cancer of the Liver Italian Program (CLIP) score with the addition of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Patient selection: hepatocellular carcinoma

Parameters:

(1) Child-Pugh score

(2) tumor morphology

(3) serum AFP in ng/mL

(4) portal vein thrombosis

(5) serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in pg/mL
