Rassenti et al evaluated patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) for the relationship between ZAP-70 and immunoglobulin heavy chain gene mutation (IgVH) status and therapy-free survival. This can help identify patients with more aggressive disease who may require closer monitoring and more aggressive management. The authors are from the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Research Consortium.
ZAP-70 is an intracellular tyrosine kinase involved in T-cell receptor signaling.
Parameters:
(1) ZAP-70 status (positive vs negative)
(2) mutations of the immunoglobulin heavy chain gene mutation (IgVH)
