Description

The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) incorporates the Symptom Severity (SS) Scale Score and Widespread Pain Index (WPI) into preliminary criteria for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia.


 

Criteria for fibromyalgia - all of the following:

(1) symptoms have been at a similar level for at least 3 months

(2) there is no alternative diagnosis that can explain the pain

(3) one of the following:

(3a) WPI >= 7 and SS scale score >= 5

(3b) WPI 3 to 6 and SS scale score >= 9
