Advances in synthethetic cannabinoids has resulted in ultra-potent drugs that can have serious adverse effects.
Synthetic cannabinoids include:
(1) XLR-11
(2) ADB-PINACA
(3) AB-CHMINACA
(4) 5F-AMB
(5) PB-22
(6) AB-FUBINACA
(7) MAB-CHMINACA
(8) AMB-FUBINACA
Zombie-like behavior includes:
(1) altered mental status
(2) blank stare
(3) slow response to questions
(4) groaning
Other adverse effects may include:
(1) sudden death
(2) delirium
(3) psychosis
(4) seizures
(5) acute renal failure
(6) hyperthermia
(7) cardiotoxicity
Diagnosis involves:
(1) identification of parent cannabinoid or metabolite
(2) history of consuming a product identified as containing a synthetic cannabinoid
(3) reversal of findings after cessation of exposure
(4) exclusion of other drug or chemical
(5) exclusion of comorbid condition (stroke, meningitis, etc)
