Description

UDPB (Universal Definition of Perioperative Bleeding) criteria can be used to define the severity of perioperative bleeding.

Patient selection: open-heart surgery

Parameters:

(1) delayed sternal closure

(2) postoperative chest tube drainage over the first 12 hours in mL

(3) number of units of packed red blood cells (PRBCs)

(4) number of units of fresh frozen plasma (FF)

(5) units of platelets

(6) number of units of cryoprecipitate

(7) prothrombin complex concentrate

(8) recombinant Factor 7a

(9) re-exploration or tamponade
