Standard shipping containers are:

(1) the 20-foot (6.1 meters) = 1 TEU = 0.5 FEU

(2) the 40-foot (12.2 meters) = 2 TEU = 1 FEU

 

The width is typically 8 feet (2.44 meters)

 

Heights of containers may vary:

(1) most common height: 8.5 feet (2.59 meters)

(2) usual maximum height: 9.5 feet (2.90 meters)

(3) half height: 4.25 feet (1.3 meters)

 

The volume of the most common 20 foot container (20 feet x 8 x 8.5): 1,360 cubic feet (38.5 cubic meters)
