Tubular Reabsorption of Phosphate (TRP) and Its Fractional Excretion (FE)

Purpose:

To evaluate changes in tubular reabsorption of phosphate.

Specialty:

Nephrology
Clinical Laboratory

Objective:

laboratory tests

ICD-10:

R94.4

Description:

Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) is important in the regulation of renal clearance of phosphate. Changes in the tubular reabsorption of phosphate may reflect changes in levels of parathyroid hormone. Measurement of tubular reabsorption of phosphate is done less frequently today due to availability of direct serum PTH level testing.
