Description

Disorders of the fallopian tube are a leading cause of infertility. Infertility from a tubal cause would require that both tubes be affected.


Disorders of the fallopian tube that can cause infertility:

(1) acute or chronic salpingitis (pelvic inflammatory disease, other)

(2) adhesions

(3) endometriosis

(4) tuberculosis

(5) parasitic infections involving the fallopian tubes (schistosomiasis, other)

(6) surgery on or trauma to the fallopian tube, including tubal ligation

(7) leiomyoma or other fallopian tube tumor

 

Infertility is associated with:

(1) luminal obstruction

(2) damage to fimbriae
