Description

Several conditions can cause a centrifuge to be noisy. A noisy centrifuge should always be investigated and the cause identified.


Reasons why a centrifuge may be noisy include:

(1) an unbalanced load

(2) a loose or improperly inserted rotor

(3) worn or poorly lubricated ball bearings

(4) worn brushes

(5) improperly closed lid

(6) broken glass or other material within the rotation chamber

(7) running the centrifuge when it is not perfectly level

(8) a problem at the point of contact between the feet or base of the centrifuge and the floor or bench

(9) a problem with the surface on which the centrifuge is placed

(10) a refrigerated centrifuge may have problem in the refrigeration unit.
