Description

The Triglyceride-Glucose (TyG) Index is predictive for the risk of a number of conditions such as cardiovascular events and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Parameters:

(1) fasting serum triglyceride in mg/dL

(2) fasting plasma glucose in mg/dL

triglyceride glucose index =

= LN)(fasting triglyceride) * (fasting glucose) / 2)

Interpretation:

• Most values lie in the range from 8 to 9.

• The lowest quartile in the study of Li et al was < 8.32.

• The higher the index the worse the risk.

• Lowering the index over time may improve the prognosis.
