Description

Tonglet et al developed the Trauma Induced Coagulopathy Clinical Score (TICCS) for the prehospital identification of a patient at risk for coagulopathy. The score can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management of hemostasis. The authors are from CHR de la Citadelle in Belgium.

Patient selection: trauma victim in transport

Parameters:

(1) general severity

(2) systolic blood pressure in mm Hg

(3) sites with significant injuries (out of 8)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 18

• A score >= 10 was used to identify a patient with coagulopathy.

Performance:

• The authors claim a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 96% with area under the ROC curve of 0.98.
