Description

Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) can be transmitted by multiple routes. This can make disease control difficult especially in the home and healthcare facilities.

Routes of transmission for Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF):

(1) ticks (Hyalomma species)

(2) blood and body fluids of infected animals

(3) blood and body fluid of infected patients

(4) sexual intercourse

An infected patient should be placed in isolation. This may be difficult in a developing country where the patient may be cared for at home.

Control of ticks and tick exposure can be important in endemic areas.
