Description

Scantling et al reported the Trach Score for evaluating a patient with a cervical spinal cord injury. This can help to identify a patient who may require prolonged ventilatory support. The authors are from Hahnemann University Hospital and Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Patient selection: cervical spinal cord injury

Parameters:

(1) injury severity score (ISS)

(2) C1 to C4 motor injury

(3) type of cord injury in C1 to C7
