Description

4-aminobiphenyl is a human carcinogen. Metabolism in the body results in reactive metabolites which may interact with DNA. It can form adduct with albumin and hemoglobin.


Chemical class: arylamine (aromatic amine)

 

Cancers associated with 4-aminobiphenyl:

(1) urothelial carcinoma

(2) possibly hepatocellular carcinoma

(3) possibly other carcinomas

 

Exposures:

(1) industrial (discontinued)

(2) cigarette smoking

(3) laboratory workers

(4) food dye manufacturers
