Description

The total number of injuries (TNI) is a simple way to quantify injuries during a forensic autopsy.

The TNI is the total number of injuries resulting from separate trauma.

Types of trauma: blunt, sharp, gunshot

Variations:

(1) sub-tally for each body region

(2) major vs minor injuries, or lethal vs nonlethal

The maximum number of injuries reported by Ericsson and Thiblin was 101.

A large TNI may indicate overkill or torture.
