Description

Langer et al reported the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Concussion Outcome Determination and Rehab Recommendations (TRICORDRR) for predicting prolonged post-concussion symptoms. A patient predicted to have a high risk may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from the University of Toronto and affiliated institutions.

Patient selection: adult status post concussion

Parameters:

(1) bipolar disorder

(2) personality disorder

(3) anxiety and/or depression

(4) number of primary care visits in the year prior to the concussion

(5) age of the patient in years

Interpretation:

• minimum score: -4

• maximum score: 16 (need to score the psychiatric diagnoses separately to reach 16)

• The higher the score the greater the risk of prolonged post-concussion symptoms.
