Description

Some methods of treating a snakebite do more harm than any good.


Therapies to avoid when treating a snakebite:

(1) cutting the wound

(2) sucking over the fang marks

(3) applying ice

(4) use of a tourniquet

(5) NSAIDS

(6) prophylactic antibiotics

(7) routine use of blood products

(8) application of an electric shock

(9) therapy with corticosteroids (unless treating an allergic reaction)
