The palpebral fissure length is the distance between the inner and outer canthus of the eye. The length of the palpebral fissure may be abnormal in some congenital syndromes.
NOTES:
(1) The presence of epicanthal folds may make an accurate measurement of the length difficult.
(2) Reduction in the length of the fissure without fusion of the eyelids is termed blepharophimosis.
(3) The fissure length varies with ethnic groups.
