Description

The Medical Interview Satisfaction Scale (MISS) can be used to measure how satisfied a patient was with his or her recent encounter with a physician. The study was done at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.


 

Composition - 26 items in 3 categories:

(1) cognitive: 9 statements

(2) affective: 9 statements

(3) behavioral: 8 statements

 

Positively directed statements:

(1) cognitive:1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

(2) affective: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9

(3) behavioral: 1, 3, 4, 8

 

Negatively directed statements:

(1) cognitive: none

(2) affective: 7 and 8

(3) behavioral: 2, 5, 6, 7

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 26

• maximum score: 130

• The higher the score, the greater the expressed satisfaction.

• The overall reliability of the scale as Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.93.
