A patient severe trauma or burns may develop a number of complications. A triad of complications is associated poor survival.
Patient selection: severe trauma or burn injury
The triad consists of:
(1) acidosis (lactic acidosis)
(2) trauma-induced coagulopathy
(3) hypothermia
Early management of a trauma patient should try to prevent or quickly treat these problems as they occur.
